This Privacy Policy describes how Gramfix collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit our website or use the Gramfix desktop application (together, the “Service”). We are committed to handling your information responsibly and transparently.
1. Information We Collect
- Contact information. When you submit a support request or otherwise reach out, we collect the name, email address, and message details you provide so we can respond.
- Usage information. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregated site traffic and usage patterns. This may include pages viewed, approximate geographic location, device characteristics, and referral URLs. Google acts as our analytics provider; review Google’s Privacy Policy for more information.
- Local application data. The desktop app stores your OpenAI API key locally on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers.
We do not retain the text you process with Gramfix. Content you submit for grammar suggestions is sent directly from your device to OpenAI’s API and discarded after a response is returned. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy for details on their handling of that data.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- To troubleshoot issues, provide support, and answer inquiries;
- To analyze anonymous, aggregated trends for product planning;
- To communicate important updates about the Service or this policy.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where required by law, we process personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, and to fulfill contractual or legal obligations when responding to user inquiries.
4. Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who perform tasks on our behalf, such as analytics or email delivery, and only to the extent necessary for them to provide those services. We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Gramfix, our users, or others.
5. Data Retention
We retain contact inquiries for as long as necessary to address your request and maintain appropriate business records. Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics retention settings. We do not store OpenAI request content or your API key.
6. Security
We employ reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard the information we control. No system is entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute protection; please use caution when transmitting information online.
7. Your Choices & Rights
You may opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or adjusting your browser settings to block cookies. You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of contact information you have provided, subject to applicable law.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International Users
If you access the Service from outside Israel, you acknowledge that your information may be processed in countries with data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
